Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. I've been waiting on this album since Krondon told me about this project about 6 months ago. He let me hear some cuts, and hotdamn, the shit was fire. Especially the song with Phonte. Just you wait. Back then, they didn't even have a title for the project. They were thinking "Mad Steady" but they since scrapped that for "Stoney Jackson." That'll work.

Here's the first preview from the album, courtesy of the Stones Throw Podcast. The project features 16 cuts, all produced by Madlib the bad kid, and features apperances from Talib Kweli, Guilty Simpson, Planet Asia, and the aforementioned Phontigallo from Little Brother.

If you haven't heard the incredible news, Detroit rapper Guilty Simpson is teaming up with legendary producer Madlib for a collaboration album cleverly titled "O.J. Simpson." See, Madlib's real name is Otis Jackson, meaning his initials are "O.J." and Guilty's real government last name is "Simpson." Put them together and you have "O.J. SIMPSON." See, I told you it was clever. This is the first leak from the album, which drops this fall. This project is going to be bananas.

Gems keep falling from the heavens. Stones Throw just threw up an mp3 of Jaylib's (J Dilla x Madlib) first live performance ever. If that's not enough, they are joined by special guest star, Common. Wow. Talk about historic. Here's the back story on the show, via J. Rocc, the man who was DJing the show:

This is the first show we ever did. It was a party for the release of the Madvillain LP. We didn't practice for the show... or any of them for that matter. I would ask them what they wanted to perform then they would go, “I don't know....you make up the set list”... hahaha.

Well, thank you to Madlib & the Stones Throw Family (Wolf, Jank & Egonavichi) for giving me such an experience. It was a blessing ... Getting to spin for my favorite producers. I remember getting tapes from Jake One of Slum Village and beat tapes and just geeking out with the few homies who knew what time it was. Then I'm getting to d.j. and go on tour with this dude. Man, talk about a dream come true.

This was recorded at the Henry Fonda Theater, April 4, 2004, on the first night of the Madvillain/Jaylib tour for Madvillainy. Madlib & J. Rocc had performed Jaylib songs live, but this was the first show with J. Dilla, who had just moved to Los Angeles and joined the tour without being announced on the flyers. Another unannounced guest late into the set was Common. The voices you hear are B+ & Melo-D, who recorded this set.

Madlib's album WLIB AM: King Of The Wigflip hit stores next Tuesday, Sept 30th. Out of the numerous albums dropping next week this is probably definitely the album I'm most looking forward to (Sorry T.I.).

New heat from the Beat Konducta aka Madlib, featuring West Coast mic wrecker Defari. Madlib is a genius. This guy has such an accute ear for samples and is one of the great producers of our era. I'm convinced producing comes so easy to him, it must flow through his bloodstream. This dude has more dope running through his veins than snitchin' Bubbs.

(PS...if you're unfamilar with The Wire, do yourself a favor and unplug your television until you Netflix that show. It's the Greatest TV Drama that has ever graced the idiot box.)

Madlib is the shit. This song features MED and Poke is appears on 'Lib's upcoming album, WLIB AM: King Of The Wigflip.

The song title refers to Madlib's hometown of Oxnard, California and it's 805 area code. Founded in 1903, it is home to nearly 200,000 citizens (192,997)[1] and is the largest city in the Oxnard-Thousand Oaks-Ventura Metropolitan Area, which is located about 60 miles north of Los Angeles.
