CurT@!n$ - The Great Adventures of Dope Boy C: Dope For President [Mixtape]

The homie CurT@!ns just dropped a new mixtape, and he's not playing around with you. I'll let him tell it:

Just when you thought it was safe, CurT@!n$ and HIgh Society Life Inc. give you the latest installment to The Great Adventures of Dope Boy C saga… “Dope for President”. The album features the controversial single “Black Folks”, the heartfelt “Tomorrow” the street anthem “I Been Hustlin”, and also features cameo’s by Bun-B of U.G.K and Tyrese. The people needed change, so they voted Dope!

B.O.B. vs. Bobby Ray [MIXTAPE]

B.O.B. is Bobby Ray. Bobby Ray is B.O.B. Call him what you want, but make sure you call him talented. If you don't believe me, listen for yourself. He's actually a musician who just happens to rap. Or a rapper who knows instrumentation, production, musical theory and harmonization. Like I said, he's talented. Hosted by DJ Green Lantern and Don Cannon.

Wale x 9th Wonder - Back To The Feature [MIXTAPE]

Muthafuckas BEEN waiting for this one. Wale drops his lastest mixtape, produced by 9th Wonder. That's a deadly combo if you ask me. This dropped on Friday, but I was mad busy so you get it today. It had like 20,000 downloads in 2 days so go ahead and make it 20,001. There are some good features on here, including Bun B, Freeway, Talib Kweli, Black Thought, Joe Budden, and Rocye Da 5'9"...basically, a whole bunch of spitting going down on this one.

I interviewed Wale on Saturday, so stay tuned for that.

The Best of DJ Quik.

Well, look what we have here? A collection of 39 tracks from one of the most underrated and unheralded hip hop artists of all time, the west coast icon, DJ Quik. It was mixed by Matthew Africa, and I'll let him tell you why:

I made this mix because people sleep on DJ Quik. Maybe they've forgotten or maybe they never understood, but people don't get the breadth or depth of his talent.

I feel you, dog. Too many people sleep on Quik, but not us here at Hip Hop Official. In fact, I've already listened to this 3 times today.

And if you missed it, DJ Quik let us into his secret studio and showed off some of his toys. It's must see internet TV.

Joell Ortiz Covers The Classics. [MIXTAPE]

The name says it all. Joell goes in on 33 of your favorite hip hop classics, everything from "Know The Ledge" to "Children's Story" to "T.R.O.Y." to "Get Money." Basically, if you've listened to hip hop in the past 20 years, Joell murders a song you love. And when I say murder, I mean the good kind. Not the sloppy, embarrassing, "Oh shit, look what I did now" O.J. kind.

Q-Tip x D'Angelo x Ralphael Saadiq

Ok, I don't know the story behind this. But this is a mixtape called Lynwood Rose, featuring three soulful and talent musicians who never cease to amaze me: Q-Tip, D' Angelo, and Raphael Saadiq. I don't know if this is official, or somebody threw this all together. I'm leaning toward the second. I don't know if they are working on some music together, or this is a dream fantasy album. What I do know is that I like it.

Let's hope this is the start of something beautiful.

The Kid Daytona - The Daytona 500 [Mixtape]

Presented by Mick Boogie, featuring production from Double O of Kidz In The Hall, 6th Sense, Ill Mind, Jet Audio, and The Government. I don't think it's the actual government, like Obama or Nanci Pelosi, wasn't in the studio of this one, but an actual producer dude is named The Government. I know it's confusing, but try to follow along...

Here's the tracklist:

1. The First Lap
2. The Wings {prod. 6th Sense}
3. The Body {prod. Ill Bomb}
4. The Engine {prod. Double 0}
5. The Navigation {prod. Jet Audio}
6. The Take Off (Flight) {prod. The Government}
7. The Pit Crew *BONUS TRACK* feat. Outasight, Harlem’s Cash, 6th Sense {prod. 6th Sense}

The Carter Family Reunion (Mixtape)

Carter x Jay-Z x Lil Wayne. Get it? Carter Family Reunion. I know, I thought it was clever too. This is the latest mixtape from the homie Carter, presented by the good people at Ill Roots. I know that a lot of blood, sweat, and tears went into the making of this. And I know you're also going to enjoy it. It's different. But change is good. That's why I wear a different pair of kicks everyday.

Drake - "So Far Gone" (Mixtape)

Mad heads have been waiting for this to drop, including yours truly. Drake has been building a steady buzz as one of the next from the crop of talented emcees to blow up. To be honest, I don't know too much about this. I know he's from Canada. I know he was on the TV show Degrassi: The Next Generation. I know he's been working and touring with Lil Wayne. I know he just signed to Interscope. I've only heard a couple of is tracks, but am interested to see what the hype is all about. Rock with me.

Thank You Jay Dee, Act 2 (Mixed by J. Rocc)

This is my favorite of all Dilla tribute mixes. When it comes to Jay Dee mixes, 2 cats stand above the rest. (1) Houseshoes. (2) J. Rocc. Not knocking anybody else, but these dudes are the Official. This classic mix is from 2007, and Stones Throw offered it up as a free podcast, and now it's yours. Please enjoy this, it's a wonderful presentation of Dilla's timeless and classic music. Words cannot really describe how dope Dilla truly was, and how much he gave to our lives.
