There's no getting around it, Elzhi raps better than you. And realistically, he probably raps better than everyone you know. No disrespect to you and yours, but some cats are just on another level. That's Elzhi.
This track is bananas. I had to listen to it 7 times before I was able to comprehend the verbal gymnastics going on here.

New U-N-I.
You've probably already heard it because the world's most famous blogger, Kanye West, already threw this up on his spot. But Yeezy and his ghostbloggers ain't got nothing on the FCC. Besides, U-N-I is fam, and spread love is the FCC way. These tracks will appear on the Before There Was Love mixtape presented by Mick Boogie.

Colin Munroe - "Is The Unsung Hero" (Mixtape)
i had the pleasure of interviewing Colin Munroe last night at his show at the Viper Room in LA. Dude is good people and extremely talented. He played the drums and keyboard at his show. And on top of everything else, he's very humble, which is always refreshing. Anyways, if you've never heard of him, he's a singer, songwriter, and musician from Toronto. He became famous when he did his own rendition of Kanye's "Flashing Lights" which Yeezy actually loved and threw on his blog. He just dropped a new mixtape, which features the likes of Wale, Black Milk, Jeoll Ortiz, Drake, Mickey Factz, and Skyzoo. He's not quite hip-hop, but it's not quite not hip-hop. if you know what I mean. Just download it, it's good music.

[NEW] Black Milk - "Losing Out" (ft. Royce Da 5'9")
This beat is crazy. Black Milk does his thing with Royce Da 5'9" over this head banger. Milk has really stepped his drum programming game up. Black Milk's album, Tronic, hits stores tomorrow. I've heard it, and I must say it provides more heat for your ears than earmuffs. Go cop that.

[VIDEO] Torae - "Switch"
I'm feeling this video, it kind of has a Scenario steez to it, which one of my favorite all time videos. I've always said if I ever become a rapper, I would re-create that video shot for shot. I have to say, I've seen some pretty above-decent music videos lately, it seems like the resurgence in hip-hop music as of late isn't limited to just the music. G'yeah.
Aside from the video, the song is dope as well. Black Milk produced the track and it's a good one. Torae is an emcee from Brooklyn, and his album Daily Conversation is in stores now, featuring produced from DJ Premier, 9th Wonder, Khrysis, and aforementioned Black Milk. Give it a spin...

Artist of the Week: Black Milk
Detroit producer and emcee, Black Milk is crowned Hip Hop Official's Artist of the Week. This kids has skills. He's one of the best up and coming producers in the game, and is carrying the torch of that Detroit Dilla sound. You know what it is...
Check the interview:
Aside from his dope debut album, Popular Demand, he has worked with numerous cats including Dilla, Slum Village, Pharoahe Monche, Canibus, Lloyd Banks, Elzhi, Guilty Simpson, and Buff 1...He's definitely laced some of the sickest beats in the past few years. So get off your Serta, and take notice.

[NEW] Elzhi - "Colors"
This is slightly different than Ice-T's version. But Elzhi knows how to put fly words together to make clever sentences what rhyme really well. Call it a gift. His wordplay in this one is top notch. Pay attention, you wack emcees, you might learn something.
DOWNLOAD: Elzhi - "Colors" (produced by Black Milk)
P.S. Black Milk is developing to one of the best up and coming producers in the game. What is about Detroit and making good music? Is there something in the tap water? I know it's not the weather.
P.P.S. Elzhi's debut solo album drops next Tuesday, August 12th. Do yourself (and Hip-Hop) a favor, and cop it.

Artist of the Week: Elzhi
Detroit wordsmith, and one half of Slum Village, Elzhi is our Hip Hop Official Artist of the Week. Elzhi joined Slum Village (who originally consisted of J Dilla, T3, and Baatin) in 2002, after Dilla left the group to pursue his solo career (and Baatin left the group shortly due to health issues). Elzhi is an emcee's emcee. One of the most lyrical cats in the game, his flow and wordplay are top notch. Not too many cats can see him on a lyrical level. He also carries on the Detroit tradition of that gritty soul music that has been flowing out of Motown via artists like J Dilla, Slum Village, Proof, Royce the 5'9, Guilty Simpson, Black Milk, and Phat Kat.
His debut solo album, The Preface, drops next month, so make sure you cop that.
Peep the interview, and peep the free download after that.

Also, we'll have a live performance from Elzhi for you this Friday, so stay tuned for that.
