MISS MONDAYS.

Mondays are all about the ladies here at Hip Hop Official. And today we're hitting you off with the video from one of the illest female emcees in the game, Ms. Jean Grae. Shout out to Robert DeNiro for the cameo. Hahaaaaaa.

This joint is fire. Some hot sex on a platter type stuff going on right here. This one makes you wanna call up your girl and talk dirty to her. Produced by the soul provider, 9th Wonder.

Wale x 9th Wonder - Back To The Feature [MIXTAPE]

Muthafuckas BEEN waiting for this one. Wale drops his lastest mixtape, produced by 9th Wonder. That's a deadly combo if you ask me. This dropped on Friday, but I was mad busy so you get it today. It had like 20,000 downloads in 2 days so go ahead and make it 20,001. There are some good features on here, including Bun B, Freeway, Talib Kweli, Black Thought, Joe Budden, and Rocye Da 5'9"...basically, a whole bunch of spitting going down on this one.

I interviewed Wale on Saturday, so stay tuned for that.

9th Wonder x Puma.

It looks like the North Cakalacka super producer 9th Wonder is getting his own signature Puma shoe. He designed the shoe himself, and put his own personal touches on it. The words "Justus League" are displayed on the side panel, while an enlarged 9 rests on the other side. His The sole is transparent and contains the North Carolina area code (919) underneath. 9th's logo appears inside the show, and the laces are tri-colored red, white, and blue. Stay tuned for release date info.

9th Wonder Talks Production.

9th talks about his sound, using Pro Tools and the importance of good monitors. That reminds me, I need a speaker upgrade. Not now, but right now.

The Best of HHO's Artist of the Week.

You know how we do it...we've been bringing you the dope interviews every week, spotlighting some of the best up and coming and relevant hip hop acts in the industry. Take a look back at some of the highlights, featuring Common, Raekwon, 9th Wonder, David Banner, Pac Div, Wale, Charles Hamilton, Black Milk, and so much more.

Monday, December 8

Live Beatmaking with 9th Wonder.

This is highly dope. I love how 9th has no idea what song he's flipping, and can't stop asking for the name. You know he's going back into the lab to make this song a reality. *Patiently awaits*

Murs For President.

I sat down with Murs to talk about his new album, Murs For President, working with beatsmith 9th Wonder, and the lack of quality hip-hop today. He says he plans on changing the landscape of music. He also has the craziest hair I've ever seen. A vote for Murs is a vote for change.

Rock The Bells 2008: Los Angeles Recap.

Check out the Hip Hop Official video recap from the Rock The Bells Tour as they stopped in sunny Los Angeles. (a.k.a. the best day of 2008). Featuring Tribe, Nas, De La, Pharcyde, Mos Def, Ghostface, Raekwon, Meth and Red, and re-introducing the special guest performer the Black Eyes Peas (minus Fergie)!

"So hip-hop I bust nuts in graffiti." (c) Q-Tip

More footage from the show coming soon! All Access, baby.

Rock The Bells L.A.

Hip Hop Official was on hand for the Rock The Bells show in Los Angeles San Bernardino this weekend, and let me just say - standing on stage, with Mos Def to my right, and De La to my left, and watching Tribe perform in front of 40,000 screaming fans was one of the sickest events I've ever been a part of. It was historic, and they tore it down. I know most people were there to see Nas, but Tribe was definitely the most memorable part of the show. Believe that.

Here are some photos we took during some of our interviews, but this is just a taste. We'll have about 500+ more photos for you tomorrow, plus interviews and footage from the event on Wednesday. Keep on refreshin.

(We had some skateboards made with the HHO and Rock the Bells logo, as well as the names of every artist on the bill. We had every artist sign them, and will be auctioning them off for charity in the not so distant future, so stay tuned for that.)

Artist of the Week: 9th Wonder

Let me give you a little back story on this interview. I was excited to interview 9th, he's one of my favorite producers from the "New Era" (post 1997). Along with cats like Madlib, Just Blaze, and the Alchemist, he's been carrying the torch for the new generation, but Dilla is still #1 from this group. Anyways, I went to meet 9th at the luxurious Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles for the interview. This was supposed to be a 2 camera shoot, however the MAIN camera, the one the we had 9th's mic plugged into had other plans. Unbeknownst to us, the camera -- a Panasonic HVX, which records on P2 memory cards, not tape -- wasn't recording. The red light was on, and the numbers were moving, but the memory card was empty at the end of the day. Fuck.

Needless to say, this turned into a one camera shoot, and the audio is being picked up from the on-board camera mic, rather than the snazzy lav mic we place on 9th jacket to pick up the clean audio. Oh well, long story long, we still got the interview. Besides, this is the internet. You guys don't care about quality, you'll watch footage of Britney's va-jay jay on a shaky camera phone.

Peep the interview below. Hip-Hop's favorite producer 9th Wonder shines bright in the spotlight this week as talks about his time with Little Brother and working with Jay-Z. The North Cak-A-Laka beat maker has a new album on the way as well called The Wonder Years. So be sure to check for that...

Pool Party at the Standard Hotel

This is what summer time in Los Angeles is all about: a pool party at the legendary Standard Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, featuring 9th Wonder on the wheels of steel, and Pacific Division and U-N-I rocking the mic. No one can do it better.

Tell your friends to get with my friends, and we can be friends. Shit, we can do this every weekend.

[NEW] Little Brother - "Black Light Special" (Prod. by 9th Wonder)

It's good to hear Phonte and Pooh spitting over a 9th Wonder track again. Those three dudes outta North Carolina made some of the freshest music together circa 2002 - 2005. This is one of the bonus tracks off their mixtape with Mick Boogie, And Justus For All, that Little Brother is re-releasing on June 10.

[NEW] Jean Grae (feat. Busta Rhymes) - "Love Thirst (Remix)"

This is the remix to Jean's fsingle of her upcoming collabo album, Jeanius, which is produced entirely by 9th Wonder. The remix features Busta Rhymes.

Jean Grae (feat. Busta Rhymes) - "Love Thirst (Remix)"

What's dope about her album, is that it will feature different covers that all pay homage to classic 90's albums.

[VIDEO] 9th Wonder and Buckshot - "The Formula"

Straight from Duck Down...

Third video from The Formula album in stores today. A cool animation piece. Lyrics in the first verse are ironically relevant to what's going on with the Sean Bell case

[NEW RELEASES] Tues April 29th

It's New Release Tuesday, here's a run down of the new joints you need to run out and cop

The Roots - "Rising Down"

Philly's finest, The Roots drop their eight studio album, Rising Down. Tts their second album on Def Jam, and according to
?uestlove, the album is an electric record, more synthy and the most incendiary and political album of their career, "it's more mature and intense than all of our efforts but not a `downer' as most people expect us to do." Guest features include Common, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Styles P, and Wale.

9th Wonder & Buckshot - "The Formula"

Hoping to build off their Chemistry, the BDI Buckshot and 9th Wonder head back to the lab up for their second collabo effort titled “The Formula.” Buck rips the mic with his simple yet hypnotic flow, and 9th brings that headnotic soulfulness on the beats. If you havent seen the video for the first single, “Go All Out” staring Charlie Murphy...YouTube that.

Dizzee Rascal - "Maths + English"

And last but not least, straight outta the U.K., Dizzie Rascal's Maths and English hits U.S. shores today. It was released in the U.K. last year, and has been receiving rave reviews from critics around the globe. The trademark abrasive beats and inspired lyrical reportage are still present, making this a definite must have for Dizzee fans.

Bun B - "II Trill"

This was pushed back to May 20.

BONUS: Grand Theft Auto IV

For you gamerheads...the most anticipated game of the year! Throw ya guns in the air. The soundtrack includes Nas, Busta Rhymes, Kanye West, Mobb Deep, Fat Joe, and Gang Starr.

Buckshot & 9th Wonder - "Hold It Down"

Second single off their second album "The Formula" which drops April 29th. I'm mad excited about this album. Buckshot is one of the most underrated emcees ever.
