ARTIST OF THE WEEK: 6th Sense.
Since it's the start of the 6th month of the year, it's only right that 6th Sense sets it off as our first Artist of the Week for June. But it goes beyond simple mathematics... 6th is nice, yo. The NY rapper/producer is killin the game right now, and everything that he touches seems to break necks. Although he started rapping first, lately he's been making a name for himself with the beats, working with everyone and their momma including Outasight, The Kid Daytona, Mick Boogie, UNI, Donny Goines, Cook Classics and Evidence...just to name a few. The resume is too extensive to put it all here, and quite frankly you don't have enough time to read it all. But if you're not familiar with the music, it's time to heighten your awareness take notice of 6th Sense.
After the video, download yourself some tracks and thank me later.

[NEW] 6th Sense & Wildabeast are… Both Nice - Arcade Fly (rmx) f. Buff1, Donny Goines, U-N-I & Fashawn
Fuck that's a long title. But it's worth it. This track is fire. For those slow thinking followers of the blog (I don't discriminate), 6th Sense and Wildabeast are a duo also known as Both Nice. It's clever, I know. 6th does the beats, and also rhymes. Wildabeast is a beast. They did a song called "Arcade Fly (Remix)" in which they asked fellow emcees Buff1, Donny Goines, U-N-I, and Fashawn to jump on and murder. This is that track. Mission complete.

New West: Fashawn.
Yesterday, I posted an entry called the New West, which highlighted 5 upcoming Westcoast artists who are making noise in the industry. It linked you to four of the 5 VIBE articles that profiled U-N-I, Diz Gibran,. Shawn Jackson, and Dom Kennedy. Well, today is the fifth and final article from writer Jason Parham. This one focuses of Fresno MC Fashawn who has been carving a name for himself in the blossoming West Coast movement. Fashawn is an HHO fav, and came through the studio a few months back for an interview and live performance. That's right, we saw the future. Now it's your turn. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

[VIDEO] Evidence - "The Far Left" (ft. The Alchemist and Fashawn)
Dope video inspired by the classic Bob Dylan "Subterranean Homesick Blues" video. See, you don't need big budgets to make creative videos. Just creativity.
This song is from Ev's upcoming project, The Layover EP.

[NEW] U-N-I - "Beautiful Day" (Remix)
New remix from U-N-I features a boatload of people: Evidence, Big Pooh, Fashawn, Mickey Factz, Aloe Blacc, Theo & Kes Kaos. This is one of my favorite tracks from U-N-I, and the best part of the remix is that they incorporated the dope ass beat from the end of the video (@ 2:34). Everyone is always talking about that beat, and it finally got laced. Word up.

Artist of the Week: Fashawn
For those of you not up on Fashawn, take heed. The kid is a beast. This is why we like to spotlight up and coming acts as our Artist of the Week so that you, the audience and loyal reader, can stay up and the latest and greatest. Fashawn is a 19 year old emcee from Fresno, California with a breezy flow packed with creativity, style, and intellect. As a ’90s baby, he’s got all the style and charisma of a modern-day emcee, but the rhyming chops of a veteran beyond his teenage years. “A lot of people can rap and spit bars,” Fashawn says. “But I write songs.” How refreshing.
He has a mixape out right now presented by Orisue called One Shot One Kill. You should find that right now. The homie came through the HHO studios and sat down for an interview, and rocked a fresh live performance on his song "Shut Up and Let Me Go" for us. Get to know Fashawn by peeping the interview below, and then download his new track featuring Thurz from U-N-I.

Fashawn - "Shut Up and Let Me Go" (Live)
Up and coming Cali emcee Fashawn spits hotness over The Ting Tings instrumental. This is crossover gold. It's so addictive, I've been watching this shirtless, on the edge of my bed, hunched over my laptop like Pookie in New Jack City.
