This is the original Wu-Tang Clan demo tape this spit out back in 1992. One year later, they took the industry by storm after they released their debut album, Enter The 36 Chambers, on Loud Records. I think we all know what happened after that...

Take a trip back in time and see where it all started. You'll hear some extremely raw versions of familiar cuts (including an original version of the "Diary of a Mad Man" beat that the RZA cooked up) as well as some brand new shit. The RZA graces every song, as he probably did 90% of the leg work for this. Thank God he did...

Ok, no joke...the El Michels Affair album, Enter The 37th Chamber, might be my favorite album of the year. If you're not up on game, let me school you real quick. Basically, it's a New York funk/soul band re-interpreting some of the greatest Wu-Tang songs of all time. A full band playing lacing classic RZA production? It's incredible. Get that shit today. Wu-Tang Wednesday! Here's another leak off the upcoming Wu album, Chamber Music, which drops next Tuesday. This album pairs Wu-Tang members with classic New York MCs from the 1990’s era over beats and live instrumentation from Brooklyn soul crew The Revelations. RZA is the project’s Executive Producer. I mean, seriously...how dope does that sound? I will definitely be copping this one.

[NEW] U-God (ft. Raewkwon & Slanie) - "Cocaine"

U-God is probably the least heralded of the Wu members (well, except for Masta Killa), and the dude I probably check for the least (well, except Masta Killa), but this song is actually pretty dope. Granted, the title gives away the entire concept of the song, and the cocaine raps have been beaten into the ground. But it's got a classic gutter Wu sound to it. Give it a spin.

Woooooooooow. It's like it's 1994 all over again. Lace up ya Timb boots. This one appears on the upcoming album, Wu-Tang: Chamber Music, which drops June 30th. The album will be pairing Wu-Tang members with classic 90’s-era New York emcees, and all the music will be performed by Brooklyn-based soul band The Revelations. I can dig it. That idea is stupid dope. Wuuuuuuuuuu!

U-God Interview.

In a recent interview with the Wu legend, Golden Arms talks about the struggle behind his solo career versus the enormous success he reached with the Wu-Tang Clan. He keeps it real, fa sho. I like that. He's not happy with the level of success he's had with solo career, and he's out to change that. I'm not mad either. This song stills knocks to me.

Wu-Tang Covers Remixed.

Wow, this is super duper fly. Wu fans and design heads are gonna love this. I know I did, and I'm both. Graphic designer Logan Walters has remixed all the original Wu-Tang covers in the style of classic old school Blue Note jazz record covers. Iconic covers meet a timeless look. They are calling the project either Blu-Tang Clan or Wu Note Records. Call what you want, I call it incredible.

The designer plans to do all 21 Wu-related albums, but here are the first 8. I can't wait for the next ones...

The Making of Liquid Swords.

Waxpoetics has a real dope article with the GZA/Genius talking about the making of his classic album, Liquid Swords. He even goes in detail about each of the 13 songs. It's a real dope read, my peoples.

The year was '95 and the first generation of Wu-Tang solo projects was gripping fans globally. And for his part, GZA never did waste ink and has shown a penchant for writing since Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) and his debut, Words From The Genius. Even in a year of memorable releases, Liquid Swords' rhymes coupled with RZA's cinematic beats stood tall, furthering Wu-Tang's dominance to this day.

Thirteen years later, Liquid Swords continues to age well and is a stellar case of quality '90s hip-hop. Here for the first time ever, GZA talks about the making of the heralded classic, breaking down the album track-by-track and allowing insight into vital era in which it was made.

What was your writing process like at the time?
Real slow. I don't say slow in the sense that it necessarily took me a long time to finish what I'm writing. I mean, Raekwon and Ghostface can step in and record a song in about forty-five minutes. I on the other hand, would often go back and finish rhymes that I started. I would say I pieced things together [more] slowly then. Songs generally take me two to three days to write. Sometimes I take different sentences and put them together.

For a few tracks on the album I remember, the beat would be running and it'd be four o'clock in the afternoon. We'd be smoking and you know how weed takes its toll on you. I'd just get tired and sit in the same spot all day. I'd take a nap, hang out, nap later, woke up and finish a track. RZA would leave and go to the city to handle business. He'd come home hours later and I'd still be writing same shit I started when he left [laughs].

Johnny Blaze and his Wu brothers perform live on the Jon Stewart Show. No, not the Daily Show. This was the short lived talk show he had on MTV from 1993-94. Although it was cancelled, it provided some very dope live acts, as evidenced by this classic clip of the Wu-Tang Clan playing "Method Man."

My Mom's Day w/ Rza.

Classic video of late night talk show host Craig Ferguson's mother spending a day with the Rza. There's nothing funnier than crossing old people with rappers. Except maybe Dave Chappelle. In this video, the Rza takes Momma Ferguson shopping at Tower Records (RIP), and a book store, and then they grab some food at the legendary Roscoe's. Because if you can't bond over waffles, then you can't bond at all.

A Message From Ghostface.

The Chef and Tony Starks revisit a classic track for Rae's upcoming album Only Built For Cuban Linx 2 (Supposedly it's on he album, but who the fuck knows with this thing. This album is like the Lock Ness monster of hip-hop...nobody knows if it really exists or if it's every going to show itself). Regardless, there's a pretty dope beat flip going on right here. Albeit, the original is a fucking monster, so this can't touch that version. But you'll probably like it if you've taken the time to read this.
